Pricing in plain numbers

#pricing#billing

We did a pricing pass this week. The numbers got a little more honest, the catalog got easier to scan, and the price you see in the docs is now the same price you pay.

Pricing for AI APIs has always felt like a small puzzle. You convert your real money into credits, the credits turn into tokens, the tokens depend on the model, and the bill arrives two weeks later as a number you weren't expecting.

We've never done that. NIUA bills in USD cents, you fund your wallet in dollars, and every endpoint has a price you can look up before you call it.

What we changed

We rebalanced prices across the catalog. A few services were under-priced for what they actually cost us to run, a few were rounded to ugly numbers that nobody loved, and a couple of new tiers came in. The full table lives at /pricing and you can always read the live price programmatically at /api/billing/prices.

Under the hood, the prices now flow from a single source of truth. Move a number once in our config, and the playground, the docs, and the public price API all update on the next page load. No more place where a stale dollar string can quietly disagree with the bill.

The test we care about

If you're a small studio comparing the cost of generating a hundred props versus a thousand, those numbers should be easy to do in your head. That's the only pricing test we care about, and it's the one we keep designing against.
